Best Florida Beaches Florida beach Apollo Beach Clearwater Beach.Apollo Beach, Fl:
Located in Canaveral National Seashore Park. This national seashore boasts 24 miles of undeveloped Florida beaches on Barite Island off the coast of central Florida. The semitropical paradise lures sea lovers and sun worshippers alike with an average year-round air temperature of 79 degrees and 295 days of sunshine. Sunbathers can sprawl out on three immaculate Florida beaches: Playalinda, Klondike, and Apollo. And while Playalinda and Apollo are accessible by car, Klondike is reserved exclusively for hikers.

The seashore dunes are sandy oases for tenacious plants like bayonet-leafed yuccas, prickly pear cactus, and saw palmetto -- while the salt marshes shelter shoulder-high grasses teeming with herons and egrets, not to mention nesting bald eagles, brown pelicans, mottled ducks, and wood storks.

Central Florida's Atlantic coast is also called the "Space Coast": the seashore shares its southern border with the Kennedy Space Center. One of the space shuttle launchpads sits in plain view and can be seen from within the seashore's southernmost boundary. As you ponder the launchpad amidst alligators and lily pads, consider the irony in the proximity of Florida's last wild frontier to this portal into deep space.

How do you get there from here? The nearest major airport is in Orlando, which is about 45 miles southwest of the seashore. The seashore is also accessible via Interstate 95 (exits 80 and 84), US 1, State Road 404/406, and State Road 44. The south beaches are closed three days prior to a scheduled shuttle launch, so keep track of the space program.

Clearwater Beach, Fl: Clearwater Beach Tampa Orlando Kennedy Space Center space shuttle.
Clearwater Beach is the "Best City Beach On The Gulf Of Mexico" according to Dr. Stephen Leatherman ("Dr. Beach"), a Florida International University professor who has been ranking America's beaches for more than 15 years. Clearwater Beach is where you want to be! Close to everything, yet miles away. A beautiful peninsula located on Florida's West coast, the area is bordered by the Gulf of Mexico to the west and by Tampa Bay to the east.

Looking for Nightlife and Dining? You've come to the right spot for dancing, dining and fun! From a surfside snack to gourmet fare in elegant resorts and everything in between - the Clearwater Beach area boasts a splendid selection of dining options.

Clearwater Beach is within minutes of many popular Florida attractions, just 30 minutes to Busch Gardens in Tampa and 90 minutes to Walt Disney World Resort, Sea World and Universal Studios Escape in Orlando. Looking for Nightlife and Dining? You've come to the right spot for dancing, dining and fun! From a surfside snack to gourmet fare in elegant resorts and everything in between - the Clearwater area boasts a splendid selection of dining options.

Egmont Key, Fl:space shuttle shuttle launch alligators Florida attractions.
Located at the mouth of Tampa Bay, Egmont Key is an island with an odd history and is accessible only by boat. Private excursion boats leave from Pinellas County and Manatee County to take you there if you don't have a boat.

Egmont Key is a  Florida State Park and a Wildlife Refuge. It can get very busy on weekends and holidays, but during the week is a very quiet place. It is not a really large island, but is plenty big enough to keep you busy exploring all day and wanting to come back for more. The water and beach is particularly beautiful, especially during the spring and early summer. Snorkeling is popular around the submerged remnants of old Fort Dade. There are no cars on Egmont Key, and camping is not allowed.

Tampa Bay Ferry of Hubbard's Marina on St. Pete Beach leaves from Fort Desoto. This is the recommended ferry to Egmont Key. Visit their website: For recorded information with lots of details, call 727-393-1947 or Toll Free 1-800-755-0677. This is the least expensive way to get to Egmont.

Honeymoon Island Beach, Fl:Florida attractions Busch Gardens Disney World Sea World.
Honeymoon Island beach, located next to Caladesi Island State Park, is the perfect spot to relax, soak up the sun and if you really love the beach, to get married. A two-mile stretch of isolated Gulf sand, hiking trails where you can bird watch, or picnicking on either the Gulf or sound sides of the island. It's a great Florida beach with isolated feeling, yet has the convenience of facilities.

Visitors can enjoy sunbathing or swimming in the warm Gulf waters. Surf and pass fishing can yield catches of flounder, snook, trout, redfish, snapper, whiting, sheeps head and tarpon. Picnic pavilions, bathhouses and a park concession are great ways to enjoy the restful atmosphere on Honeymoon Island. In addition to the beautiful beach areas, the park boasts several nature trails, bird observation areas and the only "pet beach" in the state.

Before man, before names, Honeymoon Island was simply a link in the chain of barrier islands that extends from Anclote Key south to Cape Romano. It cushions the Florida coast from tropical storms. Geologically speaking, the island is a relative youngster -- only 7,000 years old.

Pass-A-Grille Beach, Fl: Pass A Grille Beach Busch Gardens Disney World Sea World Universal Studios.
Relax. Get barefoot! Pass-A-Grille brings out the adventurer in you. Beach-combing, boating, visiting quaint shops and then later, relax in one of our unique Inns. Pass-A-Grille is also one of the most peaceful and romantic beach communities on the Floridian west coast.

Designated a historic district, the community has 354 historic buildings and plenty of charm. This Florida beach itself is 4 miles long and a true tropical oasis. While there are a handful of restaurants and fishing is quite good, the best thing to do in Pass-A-Grille is to simply relax and bask in the sun. Pass-A-Grille is located on the southern most part of Pinellas County’s barrier beaches. The village is only one block wide and 31 blocks long.

When St. Pete Beach is overcrowded, retreat to laid-back Pass-a-Grille. This friendly stretch of Florida beach has eccentric ambiance, unique shops and a bustling atmosphere. It's equally attractive to families, kids, singles and cozy couples. One of the most pleasing beaches in the area, its tiny but pristine shoreline is scattered with pretty pink shells and billowing sea oats. Pastel, wooden-framed homes dot the surrounding neighborhood.
