Romantic, exhilarating, and fun for all...
The great outdoors is what makes Florida great!
Getting Away From The Crowds!
Follow nature’s path to discover Florida’s hidden splendors and escape in true solitude amidst landscapes of great beauty and diversity. That old saying, “If you don’t like the weather, wait a minute” is sure true of our Florida summers, but any time of year, you could say, “If you don’t like the terrain, just drive a mile.” Our state’s sheer size ensures an amazing multitude of back to nature activities and adventure’s at every turn. We Floridians enjoy the luxury of becoming intimate with what’s truly special and hidden about Florida’s Nature and Outdoors.
Like most, you may have first become acquainted with Florida Nature and Outdoors at the beach. Sooner or later you are drawn into the mystery and retreat of its mangroves, its forest hammocks, pinelands, biking or hiking the trails, scrublands and swamps. You can find, beneath Florida’s polished veneer, an unending variety of unspoiled landscape where you can get close to the elements and catch a good nature buzz.
Florida is ‘Extreme Nature!’ Extreme in its mood swings. It ranges from essentially tropical islands and deep drifting dunescape to mucky wetlands, limestone caverns, viney jungle, and magnificent forests of oak and magnolia. Each bioscape offers its own brand of feel-good recreation – paddling, diving, swimming, camping, surfing, hiking, cycling, spelunking… you name it!
More than 5 million acres of mostly undeveloped land, the largest wildlife management area system in the country, offers remote getaways and the best of the best natural areas and outdoors experiences for outdoor lovers in every corner of the state. This is indeed the original Florida.
This State Park boasts A whopping
2075 acres offering swimming in clear spring water, canoeing the great outdoors, hiking & biking trails, and manatees during the fall and winter months. As far as Florida State Parks go, this one is deservedly in the top ten!
This area is named for a 67-foot waterfall. Falling Waters Sink is a 100-foot deep and 20-foot wide cylindrical pit. A small stream drops 67 feet to the bottom of the sink. Falling Waters offers camping, swimming, picnicking and nature trails.
Falling Waters State Park is located 3 miles south of Chipley, Florida. In this quaint town you’ll find antique shops, restaurants, Wal-Mart, and almost anything you will need to make your stay a pleasant one. From the state park you are a short drive from Ponce De Leon Springs State Park, Florida Caverns State Park, and some of the most beautiful beaches in the world.
To see Florida like a native, you have to get out of the fast lane of Miami or Orlando, and head inland and a good choice is the Big Cypress Indian Reservation in southeastern Hendry County.
The pace eases as soon as you head into the heart of the Big Cypress Seminole Indian Reservation. It gears down still further as you turn onto the dirt and stone road that leads to Billie Swamp Safari, one of the Seminole tribe's latest business ventures, geared to a growing appetite for soft adventure.
This is a Florida attraction of a different sort. There are no high-tech rides, no phones, video games or MTV. No traffic jams in the parking lot. No hordes of people waiting in line. There is available, however, the Florida Everglades, swamp buggies, airboat rides, hiking, canoeing, Ah-Tah-Ti-Ki Seminole Museum, and/or an overnight stay in a thatched hut.
This is by no-means all there is to see & do in our Sunshine
State, save us to your "Favorites List" and check back often. We will
be adding many more great adventures to make your vacation a memorable
time in Florida!
