South Florida has seen the best days go by as Orlando and other parts of the state beckon tourists, but visiting there is still an unparalleled experience. Although Fort Lauderdale is no longer a Spring Break haven, and Miami has seen its share of urban troubles, the beaches, the people, the Everglades, and the experience of it all is not to be missed. And of course no one has truly seen Florida who has not taken the long journey down U.S. 1 through the keys to Key West, the ultimate vacationer's paradise, where it's as easy to fill your day with activity as it is to do nothing at all.
Southeast Florida – Also known as Florida's Gold Coast. This region stretches over 300 miles from Ft. Pierce to Key West, and is home to twenty-four state parks. Other towns and cities include Fort Lauderdale, Hollywood, Miami Beach, South Beach, Boca Raton, Palm Beach and Islamorada.More Info

The Florida Keys are a cluster of about 1700 islands in the southeast United States. They begin at the southeastern tip of the Florida peninsula, about 15 miles south of Miami, and extend in a gentle arc south-southwest and then westward to Key West, the westernmost of the inhabited islands, and on to the uninhabited Dry Tortugas. The islands lie along the Florida Straits, dividing the Atlantic Ocean to the east from the Gulf of Mexico to the west, and defining one edge of Florida Bay. At the nearest point, the southern tip of Key West is just 94 miles from Cuba. One of the longest bridges when it was built, the "Seven Mile Bridge" connects Knight's Key (part of the city of Marathon in the Middle Keys) to Little Duck Key in the Lower Keys. The climate and environment are closer to that of the Caribbean than the rest of Florida, though unlike the Caribbean's volcanic islands, the Keys were built by plants and animals.
Major islands in the Keys include: Key Largo - Islamorada - Marathon - Big Pine Key (and the lower keys) - Key West and the Outlying islands, the Dry Tortugas. U.S. Highway 1, the "Overseas Highway" runs over most of the inhabited islands of the Florida Keys from the Florida peninsula to Key West.More Info
